FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

dMeetings joins American Heart Association’s Center for Health Technology & Innovation Innovators’ Network

Jacksonville, FL June 22, 2020 – dMeetings, a leading provider of telehealth patient education for people living with chronic disease, is proud to announce the production of the American Heart Association’s Life’s Simple 7 Web Series and is joining the American Heart Association’s Center for Health Technology & Innovators’ Network (the Center). The Center is focused on building and fostering health tech relationships to develop innovative and scalable solutions. Innovators Network members gain access to the Association’s digital assets including guidelines, recommendations, and best-in-class science as they develop various digital healthcare technologies.

dMeetings joins the Innovators’ Network in creating a 10-session online patient education program that offers instruction designed to help patients achieve ideal cardiovascular health. The online sessions are based on the American Heart Association’s Life’s Simple 7®. dMeetings is using its online curriculum to deliver this important patient education incorporating the Center’s science-based health management plans, called CarePlans.

Brad Bellingrath, Executive Producer of the series and dMeetings CEO, is committed to reducing rates of heart disease and diabetes. “Sadly, heart disease is the number one cause of death in the United States, followed closely by stroke. The need for accessible online patient education and disease prevention is obvious. The American Heart Association is a leading source for information and prevention strategies, and we are excited to be collaborating with the AHA to bring the content of their cardiovascular disease prevention program, Life’s Simple 7®, directly to patients,” said Bellingrath.

According to the Center for Disease Control, heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women and for people of most racial and ethnic groups in the United States. In fact, approximately 647,000 Americans die from heart disease annually. Almost 50% of Americans have at least one of the three key risk factors (high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol or smoking) for heart disease. Participation in a self-management education (SME) programs can help patients learn how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and thus improve their cardiovascular health.

“The Center aims to expand usage of the Associations science-based CarePlans, and so it’s incredibly encouraging to see dMeetings leveraging best-in-class science from the American Heart Association with the aim of improving health education and health engagement,” said Patrick Dunn, senior vice president of the American Heart Association Center for Health Technology & innovation.

This endeavor aims to help enhance patient education and drive increased usage of the Center’s CarePlans and health content aimed at educating patients, increasing usage, and, ultimately, improving health outcomes.

The dMeetings platform provides patient education via an online learning management system (LMS). The LMS and the content contained in it can be accessed from anywhere on the web at the convenience of the learner. The LMS allows health coaches, administrators, and patients the ability to track progress and measure comprehension throughout the series. The education series itself consists of ten 30-minute sessions, with content that is derived from the American Heart Association’s Life’s Simple 7®. Each session is delivered by an experts in cardiovascular health and is accompanied by a quiz and self-study resources.
