Arkansas Department of Health Renews with dMeetings for Online Diabetes Patient Education

JACKSONVILLE, FL., March 19, 2019 – Arkansas Department of Health has renewed their contract with dMeetings to continue offering recognized Diabetes Self-Management Education and Support (DSMES) to its state-wide diabetes population. Since deploying dMeetings, Arkansas has experienced exponential growth in eliminating barriers for diabetes self-management. Arkansas Diabetes Section Chief, Rachel Johnson, is extremely happy with the decision she made to utilize online diabetes education in the state. “I loved the concept of dMeetings immediately, I just had to think creatively of how to make it available to our partners.”

“We began offering it to state employees, community organizations, and even promoting it at local health fairs,” says Johnson as she describes the diverse populations dMeetings has reached. “Then, we started extending the program to small and large healthcare systems not only in their hospitals but also in their hospital-owned clinics as well.” Johnson is confident that dMeetings will remain a success for the Arkansas diabetes population with it already being successful in the more rural areas and community clinics as well as privately-owned medical practices.

One of Arkansas partners who is a beneficiary of dMeetings is Baptist Health Physician Partners (BHPP), a clinically integrated network (CIN) of over 1500 providers and 275 clinics in 25 counties throughout Arkansas. BHPP collaborates with the Baptist Health system and its 7 hospitals throughout the state. “BHPP uses dMeetings to educate, inform, and push out the online DSME to all areas within their CIN,” says Johnson. “It is expected that the online education will reach those patients in areas that are underserved or unable to attend education classes for various reasons.”

Arkansas next step is to empower pharmacies to utilize dMeetings through their Community Pharmacy Extended Services Network. “Currently in Arkansas, we have made great strides in impacting our Medication Therapy Management through MTM the Future Today,” says Johnson. “This program was designed with the rural and urban community pharmacies in mind using the pharmacist and pharmacy tech approach.” Johnson is confident that with dMeetings, Arkansas diabetes population will continue to improve significantly. “A win for the diabetes population is inevitably a win for healthcare statewide,” says Johnson.

dMeetings ignited innovative patient education in 2011 with the launch of online diabetes self-management education and support for patients and providers. Nearly a decade later, dMeetings remains deeply committed to patient education. By producing high-quality online courses, in the broader space of chronic diseases, the company promotes effective instruction for patients to live healthier lifestyles while managing their condition responsibly. dMeetings has championed the online patient education revolution with its easily accessible and economical content offered to organizations at all levels including healthcare payers, providers, departments of health, and employers across the nation.
